On
July 23rd 1989, as the world went about its business, somewhere in
the quite and peaceful London suburb of Fulham, a boy who knew nothing about the
enormous impact he would one day have on the world, by playing one of the most
beloved characters of our time, was born.
Having been only fifteen years ago, Daniel Radcliffe’s biography is immensely short, but it is definitely worth telling. Since the age of five Dan had shown some interest and curiosity towards acting. One of Dan’s earliest memories of acting went something like this . . .. “I think my earliest memory of acting was playing a monkey in a school play, when I was about six. I had floppy ears and orange makeup and I had to wear tights. I think I went on and danced around for about 40 seconds or something. I hope nobody ever digs up a picture of me in that, because it was embarrassing.” This stage expreience was only the beginning of what would turn out to be the journey of a lifetime.
Soon after, Dan had thought to try out for a role in the televised production of the Charles Dickens’ classic Oliver Twist but missed auditions. Although Dan’s parents, (who have been in the acting business, knew what it would require and knew the difficulty of auditioning) were not to keen on the idea of there son acting but allowed him to go on. It would not be long before Dan had his second chance at another televised production. Coincidently it happened to be another Charles Dickens’ classic, David Copperfield, but this time Dan would make the audition and make the cut. Dan would not only make it in the film but would make it as the title character David Copperfield himself. Having auditioned because a friend though it might be fun, Dan did not expect to make it, let alone act along side actors such as Maggie Smith and Bob Hoskins. Another thing nobody could predict or anticipate, especially Dan, is that he was working with someone he would work with again in one of the biggest films in history.
A couple years later Dan took on a small role in the movie, "The Tailor of Panama", directed by John Boorman. Dan played the part of Mark Pendel, the son of Harry and Louisa Pendel, played by Geoffrey Rush and Jamie Lee Curtis. Jamie Lee Curtis had spotted something in Dan and little did she know her comment would one day ring true. This is what she had to say about Dan: "One day I was looking at Daniel, who was standing beside the swimming pool. I turned to his mother and said: 'He could be Harry Potter.' "
It wasn't long after, that Dan did just that. He landed the role of a life time, as one of the most beloved heros of our time, Harry Potter. Dan: "My dad came in and told me I'd got the part of Harry Potter. I cried, I was so happy. I woke up in the middle of the night, around half two, and I woke up my dad too, just to check with him that it wasn't all a dream. That I really was going to be Harry Potter." Now with three Potter films under Dan's belt and a forth one to hit theathers this November, Dan knows the ropes of acting well.
With Dan's lovable personality, fantastic taste in music, (The Strokes, The Killers, The Von Bondies, The Distillers, just to name a few), charming smile, and brilliant blue eyes, Dan has captured the hearts of millions of young girls from all around the world. There is just no denying it........Dan rocks our world.
